I am a Mormon...married to Lisa. We have 5 awesome children. I am a gun rights advocate and believe the 'right to keep and bear arms' refers to an INDIVIDUAL right, as affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court. I like to hunt big game, although I have only ever killed a single buck deer. I am an actor of sorts and have been in many local plays and musicals.

Texting

I'm sort of hip. I said SORT OF. I'm not super old yet and can still relate a little to the younger generation. Heck, I even text message my priests every week to let them know the time and place for our activity each week.

Currently my business phone gets charged 15 cents for each text. Incoming or outgoing, it doesn't matter. 15 cents. So this story got me a little perturbed when I learned that phone companies pay VERY little to send those text messages. So little, in fact, that over 99% percent of what they charge you is pure profit in their slimy, grubby little hands.

Either my dumb company needs to negotiate better rates or I'll be cutting back on those blasted texts.

I Never Doubted

You know I'm a Ute fan, as manifest by this post made last year.

As soon as it was announced that Utah would play Alabama in the Sugar bowl, I doodled on my notebook here at work and did that same analysis for those two teams.

My results were as follows:

Utah scored more overall points throughout the year than Alabama.
Utah's games resulted in a larger spread of points than Alabama.
Alabama held their opponents to lower scores than Utah.

These results tell me a few things:

Utah has a better offense than 'Bama.
Utah has a great defense.
'Bama has a great defense.

But none of 'Bama's qualities came into the equation in the game. They were outplayed at every turn. Their QB was harassed to throw that ball EVERY time. Their QB was sacked 8 times. 8 TIMES. Utah held them to 31 rushing yards.

And Alabama's defense was rated so highly.

Whatev.

Utah remains undefeated. No other team in the country can say that. Utah is the best team in the nation. Period.

Sign of the Beast

In these latter-days, the sign of the beast is this: My health insurance company. Hereafter referred to as Dastardly Evil Voodoo Insurance Losers (DEVIL):
Photobucket

They are the most evil, hateful, nasty insurance company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. My company made the mistake of going to DEVIL health care many years back, but quickly switched back to IHC the next year. And, like a dog to it's vomit has returned to DEVIL AGAIN!!! They are a wolf in sheep's clothing. The devil. The Antichrist. Did I mention they were evil?

That's E-Vill. As in the Froo-Its of the Dev-Ill. EEEEE-Vill.

We are thinking of branching out on our own and seeking health care elsewhere. If any of have any bright ideas, we would love to hear about them.

A Leap Day Dawns

It's been since high school since I've taken one of those color-coded personality tests. Back then I was about 90% yellow. And I'll bet my wife was 90% red...who was my girly-friend at the time. Since we married I'll bet I've acquired about 30% more red. My wife is still mostly red and she loosely tolerates my yellow-ishness, which I greatly appreciate.

I'm a husband of 13.25 years and a father of 4.9 children. What does that mean exactly? My wife is due to give birth to our 5th child on March 26, 2008. We were married in November 1994 and live in our quaint, beautiful neighborhood on exactly one-third of an acre. It's our happy little place and I don't think we'll be leaving it any time soon.

I'm not very good with the spoken word. At least, I don't think I am. I think I must be fairly good at writing, because I can bring my wife to tears on birthdays, anniversaries, and Valentine's Day if I really put some good thought into a nice letter or card. Thus the blog.

It's also a desire to count my blessings. I have many, I know. But I've felt the need to recognize them more. Perhaps I have been ungrateful and feel a need for change? I don't know. I'd love to be able to look back in 10 years at this little piece of the internet and say "Wow. I sure was blessed!"

My wife is my best friend. We talk at length every day and feel "off" if we skip a day. We try and make sure we connect on some level each and every day because we both need it. I'm pretty darn sure she loves me almost as much as I love her (she'll snicker at that).

I am a church-going, God-fearing man as well as a hunter, shooter, and 2nd Amendment supporter. I bevlieve that the Constitution of the United States serves as my permit to own and carry a gun and use it in the defense of myself and my family. I also believe in sustaining and defending the laws of this great and Chosen Land.

I am confident in who I am and my abilities and have gained even more confidence thanks to Lisa. She allows me a lot of freedom to develop talents and hobbies. This is my blog and I hope you enjoy it. I wear my emotions on my sleeve, so watch for some emotional posts!

Which Intelligence?

http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofintelligencedoyouhavequiz/

My results: Your Dominant Intelligence is Interpersonal Intelligence

You shine in your ability to relate to and understand others. Good at seeing others' points of view, you get how people think and feel. You have an uncanny ability to sense true feelings, intentions, and motivations. A natural born leader, you are great at teaching and mediating conflict.

You would make a good counselor, salesperson, politician, or business person.
