In high school, Eric Dalley would say to people, "Hey, did you see that big pile of SNEW outside today?"
They'd reply, "Snew? What's snew?"
"Nothin, what's new with you?"
He was punny. Should've been PUNished. Perhaps put into a PUNitentiary.
I need to lighten up. I need more comedy in my life. More simplicity.
The last month or two have seen me very serious, what with the election and all the biased media coverage of a certain political candidate. I find myself driving home from work, cursing under my breath, and having to change the station to something more tolerable, like classical music. It's quite soothing, as I noticed a definite change in my mood one day while pulling into the garage. The only classical station we have here (as if we needed another) is one owned by BYU.....Classical 89. I listen for a good couple of months until they start having their fundraising efforts. Every single song is followed with 15 minutes of crap. I know they need money to support themselves, but when that comes on the air, I tune it out and would rather listen to nothing.
And there I go again, getting all frustrated at the waste of time. If there's anything in this life I can definitely live without, and happily so, it's the media. I'll go on vacation for a few days and return to civilization realizing that I was MUCH happier without it. My company-issued BlackBerry (or CRACKberry, as people call them) receives all of my work emails and has full internet access. I don't need it and don't like it. I purposefully go on vacations where I know I'll have no cell phone coverage and no emails. Makes me happy.
Yet like a dog to its vomit, I return again and again.
Maybe the media itself is one of those plagues spoken of in the last days in the scriptures? I don't know...it's more like pollution than anything else. The media is a big, steamy pile of snew.

Hey, I was wondering where you were lately. Now I find out you have been muttering and cursing under your breath about the whole election thingy, which I agree has been disagreeable. Extremely much so...and I have a squirmy feeling in my stomach even now when I talk about it. Ah, well, the prayers will go up for this new president in large numbers, I am sure, and I have faith in the promises of 2 Nephi 10.
I detest the media...it's intolerable for me anymore that now I've gone from .5% of t.v. spew to 0%. I happily choose movies I want to watch when I'm in the mood for the dead zone. I've had to work hard on my own mood from all this election stuff....and I laugh because I too have found myself turning on a lot more classical 89. Another option is some good LDS artists.
